Armenia's gratitude to the former leader of the Christian Union Party

On January 24, Ambassador Tigran Balayan participated in the farewell reception of former chairman of the "Christian Union" coalition party, Geert-Jan Segers, held in the House of Representatives, which was attended by members of the Dutch Parliament and the Government, as well as high-ranking representatives of local authorities.

Ambassador Balayan expressed Armenia's gratitude for the unconditional support to Armenia and the Armenian people during his ten years tenure of the party and the CU faction, emphasizing that the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by teh Parliament and the opening of the Dutch Embassy in Yerevan were the initiatives of the Christian Union.

Tigran Balayan particularly emphasized the active attitude of the Christian Union Party deputies and local authorities since the 2020 Azerbaijani aggression against Artsakh, in condemning Azerbaijan's actions, preventing new aggression, providing assistance to the affected population, and holding accountable those responsible for the aggression and war crimes, including the top leadership of Azerbaijan.

Expressing his gratitude, Geert-Jan Segers stressed that the party he leads remains faithful to its principles and values, which is the reason for the support shown to Armenia and the Armenian people.

At the reception, Ambassador Balayan had contacts with members of the Dutch Government and representatives of various parliamentary factions, provided them information about the deepening humanitarian disaster in Artsakh as a result of the illegal and inhuman blockade of Azerbaijan and highly appreciated the unanimous position of the Dutch political forces on this matter.
